At Taal, coffee is about more than taste.

Most café job pages describe a role. This one describes a place, because the role only makes sense once you know what the room is like. Taal is small, deliberately unhurried, and busy in a steady way rather than a frantic one. We brew specialty coffee from eight roasters across Europe and the US, and we change the shelf often enough that you will be learning something most weeks. Dogs sleep under the tables. There is a play corner in the corner. Regulars are actually regular, and after a month you will know a surprising number of names. No. Specialty experience is welcome, but we hire for attitude and train the coffee. If you have never pulled a shot and you are genuinely interested, say so in your email.
No. Fluent English is enough — the team and the guests are international. Dutch is useful and several of us are learning.
Yes, you need the right to work in the Netherlands. We cannot sponsor visas.
The café is open 08:00–16:00 on weekdays and 08:30–16:30 at weekends, so shifts are daytime. No late nights. We typically offer flexible 4 to 8 hour shifts across 3 to 5 days per week.
We can discuss the wages during the interiew
We read everything and reply either way. If it looks like a fit, we will invite you in for a coffee and a conversation, usually followed by a trial shift so you can see the room and we can see you work.
